I have painted from childhood and have used a variety of media: watercolour, oils, pastels, gouache and acrylic. Although professionally I was a family doctor and medical teacher in Canterbury for over 35years and was latterly GP Regional Adviser to SE Thames and GP Sub-Dean for Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals seconded to the University of Kent at Canterbury, art has always been my first love. So after I retired from my practice I started to concentrate on painting, focussing exclusively on watercolours. I began to paint in this medium seriously in 1994 and I considered the first 10 years of doing so a learning process for the development of my craft.I became an elected member of the East Kent Art Society in 1998 and since 2006 have been its Treasurer. My professional career effectively began in 2005 and since then it has taken off, sales accelerating rapidly.
I have had several solo exhibitions in Canterbury Cathedral, and many times with the MAHL Group in Whitstable and Margate. I have also exhibited several times at the Royal Watercolour Society, Chelsea Town Hall and Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour at the Mall Galleries in London. Now established, I have received numerous commissions around the world and have original work in private collections in the UK, USA, Brazil, Sweden, France Germany, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
